While sitting in class today I overheard people talking about how they spend roughly $10 per month on 411 charges on their cell phones.  I was shocked, mainly because most cellphones now have internet capabilities and it’s rather easy to search for a listing, but moreover that they had not herd of Googles free 411 service.  This service is recently out of Google labs and lets callers dial a free 1-800 number to get any phone listing.

After you call the number you are prompted to provide city and state, then the name of the business you wish to call.  Google goes even further in having the ability to connect the call (for free) and/or send you a text message of the business details.

Using this with the iPhone’s Google Maps feature provides for a great way to get directions.  So, try it out, the number is 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411).  For more information check out Google’s website here
